Shipping Policy

At Blade & Board, we deliver premium kitchenware and handcrafted Japanese knives with care, precision, and deep respect for craftsmanship—both across New Zealand and now around the world. This policy outlines our shipping terms and what you can expect when placing an order with us.


1. Where We Ship

We currently offer:

  • Domestic shipping within New Zealand via NZ Post
  • International shipping worldwide via DHL Express or NZ Post or Fedex

2. Order Processing

  • Orders are typically packed within 1–3 business days of payment confirmation.
  • You will receive a tracking link by email once your order ships.
  • During peak times or promotions, processing may take slightly longer.
  • Please note: express shipping applies only to courier transit time and does not shorten our packing timeframe.

3. Delivery Times

Domestic (NZ Post)

  • Standard Delivery: 2–4 business days
  • Express Delivery: 1–2 business days

International (DHL Express or NZ Post)

  • Estimated delivery: 2–7 business days depending on destination

Delivery estimates are provided by the carriers and may vary due to location, holidays, customs, or service disruptions.


4. International Shipping Minimums

To keep our international rates fair and accessible, we subsidise a portion of our international shipping costs.
As such, a minimum order value applies for international orders. This minimum is shown at checkout and may vary by region.

Orders that do not meet the minimum will not be eligible for shipping at this time.


5. Duties, Taxes & Import Fees

For international orders:

  • All import duties, VAT, taxes, and any applicable customs fees are the responsibility of the recipient.
  • These charges are determined by your country’s import regulations and are not included in the purchase or shipping price.
  • Blade & Board is not liable for any additional charges incurred at the destination.

6. Delivery Conditions

  • Some orders, especially those containing knives, may require a signature on delivery.
  • Please ensure your shipping address and full name are correct at checkout to avoid delays or returned parcels.

7. Order Changes, Cancellations & Return Shipping

  • Orders can only be cancelled before dispatch. Once shipped, cancellations are no longer possible.
  • We offer store credit (not refunds) for eligible returns (unused items in original packaging).
  • Customers are responsible for:
  1. Return shipping costs
  2. Original shipping charges (non-refundable)
  • We recommend using tracked shipping for returns, as Blade & Board is not responsible for lost return parcels.

8. Faulty or Damaged Goods

If your item arrives damaged or has a manufacturing defect, contact us at orders@bladeandboard.co.nz within 14 days of delivery.
Please include:

  • Your order number
  • Clear photos of the issue

We’ll arrange a replacement or full refund and cover all related shipping costs.


9. Product Variation Notice

Our knives are handmade by skilled artisans. Variations in:

  • Wood grain or handle colour
  • Forge finish or steel pattern
  • Engraving or maker’s marks

...are natural and celebrated, not considered defects.


10. Age Restrictions

You must be 18 years or older to purchase a knife from Blade & Board.
By placing an order, you confirm you meet this legal requirement. We may request age verification and reserve the right to cancel any order if this cannot be confirmed.
