A piece of Japanese history in your hand.
Born in Miki, Japan in 1894, the Higonokami is one of the most iconic folding knives ever made. Its simple yet ingenious design has remained virtually unchanged for over a century, a testament to the enduring quality of Japanese craftsmanship.
Originally created for everyday use by craftsmen and tradesmen, the Higonokami features a razor-sharp high carbon steel blade housed in a minimalist folded brass handle. It opens smoothly with a signature chikiri (thumb lever) and relies on friction rather than a locking mechanism, a pure expression of functional simplicity.
Each knife is still hand-assembled by skilled artisans in Japan, continuing a lineage that bridges tradition and modernity. Whether used for precise cutting tasks or kept as a collector’s piece, the Higonokami represents the timeless spirit of Japanese blade-making: understated, precise, and built to last.
